Mooresville Graded School District
Artist of the Month: Mooresville High School senior James Hamilton was named the Mooresville Graded School District Artist of the Month for October. Hamilton is a member of the MHS band, chorus and theater. He started his music career in sixth grade playing the flute and, since then, has learned the saxophone, oboe and other woodwind instruments. He plans to attend Appalachian State University to eventually earn a doctorate degree and pursue a career in music education.

Trunk or treat: Oct. 29 5-7 p.m.
Coddle Creek Elementary
PTO meeting: The next PTO meeting is at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 6 in the cafeteria. Parents are invited to attend.
Restaurant night: Coddle Creek Elementary will receive a portion of the evening’s sales 4-9 p.m. Nov. 5 at Chili’s restaurant, 603 River Highway, Mooresville. Patrons should mention to their server that they are with Coddle Creek Elementary.
Science Fair: Parents are needed to help with activities before and during the Science Fair on Nov. 12. Jobs include selling science boards at the school, supervising student setup and cleanup, donating refreshments for judges and judging finalists. West Iredell Middle
Pop-tab collection: The West Iredell Middle School Junior Beta Club is collecting pop tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte. The club’s goal is to collect 1 million tabs. Last year it collected about 250,000. Pop tabs can be dropped off at the school office or sent from other schools in the Iredell-Statesville Schools district via school courier.

Trunk or treat: 4:30-7 p.m. Oct. 28.
PTSA meeting: 9:30 a.m. Nov. 4, Media Center. The meeting is open to all.
South Iredell High
Driver education signups: Signups for the next driver education class are underway through noon Nov. 9 in the main office. The class runs 3:15-6 p.m. Monday-Friday Nov. 9-23 in the auditorium. To be eligible, students must have been born by May 9, 2001. Students must attend all of the sessions.
