2010-2011 school year applications: Applications must be received in either the middle school or high school office no later than Jan. 31, 2010 to be included in the lottery, which will be held at the school on Feb. 4. Please call 704-948-8600 for more information.
Tours: School tours will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Thursdays when school is in session from Nov. 19 - Jan. 28. Spaces are limited, call the middle school at 704-948-8600 or high school at 704-875-3389 to sign up.

Rivals put competition aside for a good cause: They may be competitors on the athletic field, but Hopewell and North Mecklenburg high school students put their rivalry aside to raise money for a good cause. Dozens of students from both schools worked together in the first Rivals for Respect Walk to raise funds and spread awareness of Special Olympics North Carolina.
Meeting for juniors, parents: Mark your calendars for a mandatory meeting on Jan. 7 from 7 - 9 p.m. We will distribute and discuss PSAT results, distribute your college planning materials and begin planning for your senior year and beyond. No matter what your post graduation plans, it is imperative that both student and at least one parent attend this meeting.

Holiday concert: Please join us for the annual holiday concert on Dec. 17 featuring our 4th-8th grade chorus and band students as they showcase what they have learned this semester. The students will celebrate the holiday season with traditions and songs from around the world. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and will be held in the auditorium.
College planning events: Ms. Rand will be hosting two events in January for college planning. On Jan. 6, the "College Planning for Juniors" program will take place in the Commons from 6:30-8:00 p.m. On Jan. 7, the "Financial Aid Planning for Seniors" program will take place from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Both students and parents are encouraged to attend. Parent council meeting: Mark your calendars for our second evening Parent Council Meeting. It will be held on Jan. 6 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Commons. To accommodate our working families and everyone's busy schedules, we will provide childcare and a light dinner. This meeting will be in addition to our regular morning meeting at 8:30 a.m. that same day. We hope to see everyone there. Marketing awards: North Mecklenburg High School DECA swept the most awards at District DECA Competition which was held at Myers Park High School recently. Two hundred and ten NM DECA students were among 990 competitors from CMS area high schools. DECA is an international student organization that prepares students for careers in marketing. The following NMHS DECA members earned trophies: 1st Place Trophies, Amanda Lennon - Business Services Marketing; Elliot Loncar - Restaurant & Food Service Management; Derek Murray - Food Marketing Services. 2nd Place Trophies: Patrick Buffum - Restaurant & Food Service Management; Natalie Kuzmanovich - Hotel Lodging Management; Jordan Stubbs - Apparel & Accessories Marketing; Katie Vey - Quick Serve Restaurant Management. 3rd Place Trophies: Kristen Keehnle - Retail Merchandising Services; Olivia Palmquist - Principles of Marketing; Taylor Swing - Quick Serve Restaurant Management; Morgan Wylie - Apparel & Accessories Marketing.
