Miss Congeniality: Hillary Gruce, a 2008 graduate of Cannon School, recently won the Miss Congeniality title while representing the Sigma Kappa sorority in the 2010 Miss Clemson University Pageant. Gruce is the daughter of John and Patty Gruce of Davidson. At Clemson, Gruce made the President's List and the Dean's List and is part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She also is an active volunteer. This summer, the sophomore biology major plans on studying abroad in Costa Rica, where she will help underprivileged families receive medical attention. After graduation, she plans to pursue a medical degree.
Parking changes: Starting Monday, parking in the horseshoe at Davidson Town Hall will change from all-day parking to two-hour parking. The change will be strictly enforced. Additional parking will be available on South Street, on Lorimer Road and in the side lot next to town hall. Town employees also will park elsewhere to free up additional spots. Give blood, see movie: Anyone who donates blood at the Community Blood Center's upcoming drive will get a free movie ticket. The blood drive will be from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Regal Theaters Birkdale 16, 16950 Birkdale Commons Parkway, Huntersville. Donors must weigh at least 120 pounds.
