Golf tournament: The weather is warming up so grab your clubs for the eighth annual Tee It Up for Davidson Day School Golf Tournament on April 19. Enjoy 18 holes of golf at beautiful River Run Country Club. Lunch, dinner, gifts and prizes will all be provided. Headmaster scholarship: Families who are interested in applying for the Headmaster Scholarship will find the guidelines on our Web site at www.davidsonday.org/scholarship-aid.html. Please submit your application for the scholarship to Denise Koeth in the main office no later than April 20.
Host families needed: The school is looking for families to host International Students from ASSE for the next academic year. We were quite fortunate to have had the opportunity to have Lisa Schernes and Siyi Yang as Upper School students. Hopewell High School
Art show and competition: Artwork from some of the area's most talented and creative students will be showcased April 5 through April 25 at The Great Frame Up in Birkdale Village. The show will feature the work of the best students from Hopewell High School. This art exhibition is part of the national Creative Self-Expression Show contest, sponsored by The Great Frame Up. On April 17 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., The Great Frame up will host a special reception to celebrate the work of our city's next generation of artists. All entries will be judged with one piece from each school moving onto the national competition, where first place will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship. The community is invited to stop by The Great Frame Up to attend this event and view the students' work and vote for their popular choice. Local awards will be given to winners in each of six categories.
Lincoln Charter School
Barbecue: The school's sports boosters will host a barbecue on April 19 to raise money for athletic programs and fields. The menu includes barbecue, beans, slaw and bread. $8 per plate. $4 for a student lunch version. Pick up is from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the middle school and high school campus. East Lincoln High School
Outstanding graduate: Josh Krehnbrink has been selected to represent ELHS as the WSOC Family Focus Carolinas' Outstanding Graduate. This award goes to students with excellent overall achievement in both school and the community.
SAT prep: Lincoln County Schools will offer a free SAT Workshop on April 25 and April 29 at the County Office in Lincolnton. If you are planning to take the SAT in May or June this is a wonderful opportunity. Please see Ms. Kiser or Mr. Gallagher to sign up. Space is limited so come in soon to reserve your seat.
