Bailey Road Middle School
Honors Band: Three Bailey Middle School students were selected to be a part of the 2010 CMS Middle School Honors Band: Jackson Michael, clarinet; Matthew Newman, alto saxophone; Marc Augenreich, bass clarinet. The band was conducted by Ron Payne and performed April 16-17.

Senior Exit Project: The senior exit project presentations have been rescheduled for 7:30 a.m.- noon May 17, 18, 19 and 21. Parents are needed to judge senior presentations during this week. Contact email@example.com.
Great Frame Up: Awards were presented April 17 to six students at The Great Frame Up in Birkdale Village. The show features the work of forty of the best students from Hopewell High School. The art exhibition was part of the national Creative Self-Expression Show contest, sponsored by The Great Frame Up. Awards were presented to: Stephanie Rasmussen, "Jimmy Jones," best digital; Kaitlyn Hege, photograph of her grandfather's hands and letters, best photography; Jherica Whitley, "Jherica's Dream," best mixed media; Alexandra Goode, "Follow the Colorful Imagination," best pencil or pastel; Jordan Rogan for "Birkdale Friday Nights," best painted work; Eunice Tan for "Freedom," people's choice.
Selected Best of Show, Jherica Whitley's piece moves on to the National Competition where first place will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship.
Health screening: Heart of a Champion Day for the 2010-2011 school year will be June 5. Sponsored by Carolinas Medical Center, OrthoCarolina & Sanger Clinic, this is an opportunity for students to get free health screenings and orthopedic assessment.
Lake Norman Charter High
Junior prom: The junior prom will be 7 p.m.-midnight May 21 in the Palmer Pavilion of the Birkdale Golf Club. Only juniors who attend LNCS are invited to prom; however, juniors are allowed to invite one guest who is another LNCS student (9th or 10th grades included) or someone outside of LNCS.
North Mecklenburg High
Stroll Through the Arts: The second annual North Meck High School "Stroll Through the Arts" 4:30-7 p.m. May 6 in J Building. Various art mediums, including visual, photography, textile will be shown and live music provided by students.
Play: The award winning musical "Chicago" will be performed by the North Meck Theater Department starting 7 p.m. May 6. Tickets available at the door.
Davidson IB Middle School
Darfur fundraiser: The Community Walk for Darfur sponsored by students at Davidson IB Middle School raised $2,200 to help put an end to the atrocities taking place in the Darfur region of the Sudan. Over 100 students walked for three hours, informing the community about events in Darfur.
Davidson Day School
International dinner: The Foreign Language Department will host a Spanish and French Dinner 6 p.m. April 29. Students from grades 5-12 will learn about restaurant food and service. Cover charge to the restaurant is one nonperishable food item to be donated to charity.
