Business fast track: Businesses in Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville will now have access to a more customer-friendly permitting process. A communications plan and commercial occupancy checklist was developed by a team from Mecklenburg County government, the N.C. Department of Transportation, and the three towns. The process will help businesses occupy buildings on schedule. Details: www.lakenormanregion.com, 704-892-6031 (Cornelius); 704-940-9618 (Davidson); 704-875-6541 (Huntersville).
Support public television: WTVI, Charlotte's PBS television station, is scheduled to lose all of its funding from Mecklenburg County starting July 1. To help raise money for WTVI, Cold Stone Creamery stores in Birkdale Village in Huntersville and Target Shopping Center in Mooresville are collecting donations through June. Patrons will be asked to donate $1 or $5 when they check out.

The project is part of a $4.3 million contract to repave Concord Road and East Rocky River Roads from downtown to the Cabarrus County line. The initial phase is to be completed by June 18. Trash collection will not be affected.
