Census figures: The Town of Huntersville is the 19th-largest city/town in North Carolina, with a population of 46,773, according to the 2010 Census figures released March 2. Among the state's 20 largest cities, Huntersville grew the fastest. Since the 2000 Census, the town's population has increased by 87 percent. The town estimates its population will be about 60,000 in 2020 when the next Census rolls around, and nearing 80,000 by 2030.
Emerging leader: Jason Abernethy, the senior planner for Cornelius, was selected for the Class of 2011 EA Morris Fellowship for Emerging Leaders. Abernethy serves as president of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Men.
