Around 2,000 people attended Huntersville's "Movies in the Park" May 20 at North Mecklenburg Park. The free event took place on the park's soccer fields and featured children's activities including balloon animals, a local magician, Minute-To-Win-It games and gift-card prizes.
The weather was perfect, vendors sold pizza and shaved ice, and Radiant Life Fellowship provided popcorn, drinks and bug spray.
At dusk, the animated movie "Mega Mind" lit up the large inflatable screen.
"My wife, Jenny, and I have lived in Huntersville since 1996, and we absolutely love it," said Chris Thompson, pastor and founder of Radiant Life Fellowship. Thompson attended the event with his four children, Cole, Noah, Sara and Jake.
Never miss a local story.
The next "Movies in the Park" event will be Aug. 26, featuring the animated movie "Tangled."
