A Hickory store owner was kidnapped at gunpoint Thursday night, according to Hickory police.
Officers are investigating a crime scene at the Lucky Stop in the 600 block of First Avenue in Hickory.
According to police, an armed man went into the store, forced the store owner into a vehicle, and drove him around while demanding money. The man then reportedly let him go.
No one was hurt in the armed robbery and police say they don’t have any names of potential suspects.
Mateen Arain, a manager at the store, said his cousin was kidnapped. Arain said his cousin was closing up the store when the incident happened around 11 or 11:30 p.m.
“The guy came here. On gunpoint he said ‘open the store’,” Arain said.
He said the man took all the money from the store register in addition to his cousin’s cell phone and the $60 he had in his possession. He said the man made his cousin get into a vehicle, drove him around and then released him.
