Polar is a very sweet, shih tzu and poodle boy who is about 5 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. He was surrendered by his owner because Polar had a rectal hernia that was very expensive to repair and there was a 50/50 chance the surgery would not hold. We found an awesome veterinarian who was willing to take a chance but, unfortunately, the first surgery failed. We are now waiting for Polar to heal for at least four weeks before attempting to repair with a mesh implant, sometime in December. Everyone who meets Polar agrees that he is a wonderful, loving dog and we can’t give up on him. For now, he is eating a special mixture of food and oils to help his bowels work properly. He loves to play with toys and cuddle, and everyone he meets is an immediate friend. Polar is house-trained, uses a doggie door, and loves to go for walks and car rides.
