Shirley MacMillan said that the Lake Wylie Lioness Lions Club is the only Lions club to run a resale store. They raised nearly $70,000 to give to local charities in the past year.
The Sweet Repeat store is open to the public 8:30a.m.-4p.m. Saturdays. The store has lots of books, dishes, toys, jewelry and more. It's behind Fred's store in the Lake Wylie Plaza on Charlotte Highway (S.C. 49).
Donations of used and new items are accepted anytime in a small shed in front of the store. Janice Forte manages the store.
For more information about the store or the Lake Wylie Lioness Lions Club, contact Shirley at firstname.lastname@example.org or 704-813-4789.
River Hills Lions have helped the needy to see for the past 32 years by collecting old eyeglasses. In the past year, the Lions have helped 67 children and adults in Clover and Lake Wylie with eye exams and eyeglasses.
Lions volunteers donated more than 1,200 pairs of glasses that will be restored and shipped to remote parts of the world.
The Lions would like you to donate old eyeglasses at one of the collection boxes at Sweet Repeat; the Food Lion in Lake Wylie; Poole Optometric, 121 Bethel St., Clover; and the Harris Teeter in Steele Creek at N.C. 160 and N.C. 49.
If you know any residents of the Clover school district needing eye exams or glasses, contact the Clover Area Assistance Center at 1130 S.C.55 East to fill out an application.
