Dona Van Leer and other volunteers who help with the Clover Area Assistance Center are collecting blankets for winter.
Starting Oct. 1, the facility will be providing blankets for those in need in the local area.
Take blanket donations to the CAAC, 1130 S.C. 55 East near Clover on Mondays and Wednesdays between 1 and 4 p.m.. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until noon. If you have blankets to donate but can't get them to the facility, please contact me and I will make sure that your blankets get to CAAC.

Know a soldier?
Although it may seem early to be thinking about the holidays, there are some in our community already making plans.
A group of women in Tega Cay is gathering names of military personnel so they can send holiday care packages in November.
For those serving our country and those who are off fighting in foreign lands, a package from home is always special. If you have a name to suggest, please send me the name and military address and I will forward it to the Tega Cay Women's Club.
With the high cost of fuel and the economy sliding, it may be a smart time to take advantage of the bookmobile services available in our communities.
Many years ago, the bookmobile came weekly to Tega Cay and we could enjoy selecting a book or two each week. Now, some have asked about the bookmobile returning to the Tega Cay area.
The fall schedule includes a stop at Kids R Kids Daycare at 3009 S.C. 160 West beside the Sonic restaurant. You can meet the bookmobile there 11:25-11:55 a.m. on Fridays Sept. 12 and 26; Oct. 10 and 24; Nov. 7 and 21; and Dec 5 and 19.
If you live in the Lake Wylie area, Diane Williams said the bookmobile will stop at The Giving Tree Child Development Center at 78 S.C. 274 (near Five Points), 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays Sept. 17, Oct. 1, 15 and 29, Nov. 12 and 26, and Dec. 10.
Mark those dates on your calendar and enjoy a good book.
This month is Library Card Sign Up month. Just go by the local branch in Lake Wylie, Baxter or any other library to get your card. You can also find plenty of useful York County library information at www.yclibrary.org.
If you would like to have the bookmobile stop in Tega Cay or any other community, contact Diane Williams at 803-981-5842.
Toys for Tots
Over 150 runners and walkers participated in the Toys for Tots 5K and the Family Fun Run/Walk held in Tega Cay on Aug. 30.
Many children will receive a new toy that will surely bring a smile to each face, thanks to those who helped. Hats off to all!
