Congress St. and live upstairs. Appetizers include roasted quail with a sweet potato and pecan hash for $9; and seared scallops with corn and country ham grits, $10.
Entrees include a butcher steak with caramelized onions and blue cheese (with two sides such as collards, grits or mashed potatoes) for $18; and pork tenderloin with apple brandy reduction, $18. Desserts include candy apple pound cake with caramel ice cream, $4. Brandon House is open for lunch 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays.
Colin Flynn is a graduate of the Cordon Bleu and has worked at the French Laundry in Napa Valley. He said their goal was to open a restaurant in the Charlotte region “but somewhere not consumed by the Big City. We're country folks and the Brandon House will reflect that, casual but upscale.”
