Greenway project: Four Mile Creek Greenway, a $1.6 million project funded by the Town of Matthews and Mecklenburg County, is nearing completion. Trail A, which runs from East John Street to Brenham Lane, is finished and now open to the public. Trail B, which goes from South Trade Street to near Squirrel Lake Park, will be completed in 30-60 days.

Sports registration: Spring registration is now open for Calvary Church's CHAMP Sports Outreach recreational soccer (ages 3-14), flag football (ages 6-11), T-ball (ages 5-6) and Coach Pitch Baseball (ages 7-8) leagues. Practices begin the week of Feb. 28 and the spring season runs March 12-May 21. Most teams practice once a week, 5:30-6:30 p.m., at Calvary's CHAMP fields, and play one game each Saturday.
