Tuition raffle: Purchase tuition raffle tickets online from Jan. 18-Feb. 23. Winners can choose either a $15,000 tuition credit to be used in the 2011-12 school year or $15,000 in cash. Parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors are invited to purchase tickets. Tickets are $50 each or three for $100. Online tickets must be purchased by Feb. 23 at noon to be included. Sponsored by the Parents' Association, proceeds from the tuition raffle fund a variety of programs, including new technology, classroom and library equipment, and the Distinguished Guests Series.
Great Decisions lectures: Charlotte Country Day is hosting the annual Great Decisions Charlotte Community Lecture Series, open to CCDS parents, faculty and staff. The lectures, sponsored by the Office of International Programs at UNC Charlotte and the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, will be held weekly 7-8:30 p.m. through Feb. 15. Parent University course: "Homework without the Headache," Feb. 10 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Media Center. Discover the top homework challenges and ways to troubleshoot and ultimately eliminate them. Western Regional Honors Orchestra: The following students made the Western Regional Honors Orchestras: Kristen Cotner, Will Champion, Thomas Friend, Adam Pol and Julie Wall. They will perform in Boone the weekend of March 4-6.
Drama team honored: Members of the Charlotte Christian School ACT 1 Drama Team recently won individual and small-group events at the Christians in Theatre Arts Secondary Theatre Festival held Jan. 14-16 in Greenville, S.C. Students who won their respective categories are: Cory Wagener, Solo Musical Theatre; Pete Crawford and Jay Putnam, Duo Scene; Claire Hilton and Polly Hilton, Duo Musical Theatre; AJ Calhoun, Pete Crawford, Mozelle Cox, Claire Hilton, Bethany Klinect, Shelley Leazer, Jay Putnam, Lynn Putnam, Cory Wagener and Zach White, Multiple Musical Theatre; Daniel Armbrust, Erin McNaughton, Brewington Rosenblatt and Kyndall Sutherland, Multiple Actor Scene; and Brewington Rosenblatt, Theatrical Courage Award. The top awards of Best Overall Actor and Actress were awarded to Charlotte Christian seniors Pete Crawford and Polly Hilton.
