Loaves & Fishes
Sushi sale: The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar and News Channel 36's Dion Lim are teaming up to raise money for Loaves & Fishes. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sale of the Neon Dion Sushi Roll, a featured menu item named in Lim's honor, will be donated to Loaves & Fishes. The fundraiser runs through May 31. The Cowfish is at 4310 Sharon Road. Loaves & Fishes provides a week's worth of nutritious groceries to individuals and families in a short-term crisis. Carolina Waterfowl Rescue

Volunteers needed: Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is in need of volunteers to help care for injured and abandoned water birds including ducks, geese, swans and herons. CWR handles both wild and domestic birds. Shifts are available throughout the day but especially early in the morning to open and in the evening to close. Golf tournament: The Matthews Free Medical Clinic will hold its sixth annual Golf Tournament May 2 at Raintree Country Club, 8600 Raintree Lane. Play entry fee is $150. Skate fundraiser: There will be a fundraiser for two critically ill children, Liam Fudge and Kaitlyn Bourgeault, 6-9 p.m. May 3 at Kate's Skates, 14500 East Independence Blvd., Indian Trail.
