Matthews and Stallings are asking for help in creating a Comprehensive Transportation Plan.
A public meeting regarding the plan is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Central Piedmont Community College, 2800 Campus Ridge Road, Matthews, Building No. 1, Room 2215.
The towns share many transportation woes and have decided those can best be addressed by working together.
Each town is pitching in $25,000 that will be matched by a $50,000 federal grant to create the plan.
The plan will:
Identify existing traffic patterns and transportation network deficiencies.
Identify bicycling, pedestrian and transit alternatives to private automobiles.
Identify short-term and long-term improvements for roadways and intersections.
