The Mint Hill Lions Club recently donated $600 to provide transportation for visually impaired people to attend the North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament at the Outer Banks in October.
Club president Alan McKenzie said his club serves the community in a number of other ways throughout the year, including providing glasses and hearing aids and offering vision tests.
Fundraisers include an annual pancake breakfast, 5K race, various Bi-Lo fundraisers and a car show.
The Mint Hill Lion’s Club meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month except during July and August. Meetings are held at Jimmie’s Restaurant on Matthews-Mint Hill Road.
