Pints for Pencils: The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is holding its fourth annual Pints for Pencils campaign during August and September. For blood donations made with CBCC during these months, CBCC will donate school supplies to area school systems. Carolina Waterfowl Rescue

Golf tournament: The Links for Lupus Golf Tournament will take place 11 a.m. Aug. 25 at Cedarwood Country Club, 4100 Pineville-Matthews Road. PAWtism festival: Local nonprofits Yorkie Haven and Reagan’s Wish will team up to host the PAWtism Festival Aug. 30-Sept. 1 at the new Plantation Animal Clinic, 135 W. John Street, Matthews. The festival will run 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, 12-6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday. There will be local vendors, a bounce house, face painting, raffles and more. Golf Outing: East Mecklenburg High School Foundation will hold its sixth annual Golf Outing to raise money for the school 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation, 7500 Olde Sycamore Drive. Amazing Charity Race
Registration open: HealthQuest’s Amazing Charity Race, to take place on Sept. 6 at the Union County Agricultural Center, is accepting team applications. The fundraiser will be a competition between teams to decipher clues and complete various mental and physical challenges. A $2,000 prize will go to the winning team’s charity of choice and a $500 prize will go to the team winning the final bonus challenge. Organizers hope to bring awareness to the plight of those who cannot afford their prescription medications, and raise funds to ensure that HealthQuest can assist those in need. An Evening with Richard Childress: The Great Carolinas chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will honor NASCAR championship team owner Richard Childress with “An Evening with Richard Childress” Sept. 23 at Bridger Field House in Winston-Salem. Money raised during the event will be used by the Greater Carolinas chapter of the MS Society to help support people affected by MS and fund research to create an MS free world.
