Good morning and welcome to University City News, a new community newspaper that will be delivered to your home every Sunday.
We're going to focus on University City and bring you news about your neighbors, friends and family. You might even see yourself in the section sometime.
University City News will cover the news that's closest to you - your neighborhood and church and your children's school and Little League team. We'll also cover issues such as traffic, business and crime. And, of course, we'll cover UNC Charlotte.
To accomplish our mission, we have correspondents who are dedicated to covering the neighborhoods where you live - including Highland Creek, Davis Lake, Mallard Creek and the neighborhoods south of the university. The University City News will go to the area bounded roughly by Eastfield Road on the north, Reedy Creek Park on the South, Interstate 77 on the west and Cabarrus County on the east.
Never miss a local story.
While we'll be focused on University City, the new paper is part of a group of community newspapers around the Charlotte region, and we understand that you're not restricted by our circulation boundaries. So any information of common interest will be published in all the appropriate sections.
Please send us your story ideas and news tips. Our correspondents are listed in the staff box on page 2, and their email addresses and their beats are listed at the end of their stories.
We also want to publish your upcoming events in our calendar. We need you to go online and type in your information. Go to events.charlotteobserver.com/.
You can keep up by going online to www.charlotteobserver.com/ucity.
We're excited about all we're offering. And we invite you to become part of our ongoing exchanges of news and tips.

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy University City News.
