Lease-by-bed meeting canceled: The citizen advisory group meeting for Jan. 10 has been canceled. The group is discussing issues surrounding leasing by bedroom and parking in Charlotte university areas. The city planning and legal departments will be taking the time to examine fair housing laws. The next tentative meeting will be 6 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Government Center.

New Christian Chamber chapter: The Charlotte Christian Chamber will launch the North Charlotte C3 Chapter 11 a.m. Jan. 17 at the University Hilton Hotel. The Charlotte Christian Chamber is a networking and fellowship organization for Christian business professionals. Steve Green, president of Hobby Lobby, will be the keynote speaker at the Jan. 17 meeting. To register to attend, visit www.charlottechristianchamber.org.

Goosebumps book club: Children ages 5-11 are invited to meet 4:30-5:15 p.m. Jan. 17 at the University City Regional Library to discuss the Goosebumps series. 301 E. W.T. Harris Blvd. 704-416-7200.

Niners hoops: The women’s basketball team will play Fordham University 2 p.m. on Jan. 13 in Halton Arena. The game will be nationally televised by CBSSN. The men’s team will also play Fordham University 7:30 Jan. 16 at Halton. Student tickets for games are free. Discovery Place KIDS: Reenactment of Jan Brett’s story, The Mitten, Jan. 15. Learn about recycling by examining old winter coats, Jan. 16. Celebrate Benjamin Franklin’s birthday by learning about his life of many careers, Jan. 17.

All events are 11:15-11:45 a.m. and 2:15 - 2:45 p.m. and free with museum admission.
