Charlotte’s semi-annual restaurant week, Queen’s Feast, will take place July 19-28.
More than 100 restaurants, including 15 first-time participants, are featured in the summer promotion; the first Queen’s Feast in 2008 had 42.
The week-long event gives diners a chance to try upscale restaurants offering prix fixe, multi-course menus for $30.
The first Queen’s Feast of 2013 was held in January and had about a $6 million impact for participating restaurants with more than 100,000 diners taking advantage of the promotion.
New features of the summer edition include a discount companion fare from Raleigh/Cary on Amtrak in North Carolina and the launching of PlateShare.
“Queen’s Feast is lending support to the new social enterprise PlateShare, which was conceived and developed locally and will launch in conjunction with Restaurant Week on July 19,” said co-founder of Charlotte Restaurant Week Jill Fontana.
PlateShare is a mobile app for iPhone and Android that gives diners the ability to round up their restaurant bills to the nearest dollar and donate change to hunger relief.
PlateShare donations during Charlotte Restaurant Week will benefit Second Harvest of Metrolina. Visit the website to learn more: www.plateshare.org.
