A teacher at North Gaston High School was charged Tuesday with indecent liberties with a student by a teacher.
Stewart Oakley Rice, 23, of Dallas, N.C., turned himself in at the Gaston County Magistrate’s Office and was served with an arrest warrant by a Gaston County Police officer. Rice was released on a written promise to appear in court on the charge.
Police investigated after a staff member notified the school’s resource officer about a teacher having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Rice was interviewed and cooperated with the investigation, police said. The female student also was interviewed.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Gaston County Police at 704-866-3320 or Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
