A man and a woman are accused of stealing Christmas lights and other items from packages delivered to homes on Brawley School Road at Lake Norman.
Iredell County sheriff’s investigators credit alert neighbors in leading to the arrests of Brittany Elizabeth Butler, 25, of Mooresville and Sage Lawson Owings, 22, of the Long Island area of eastern Catawba County. Each was charged with three counts of misdemeanor larceny.
Butler was arrested on Monday and jailed on $5,000 bail. Owings was arrested on Tuesday and jailed on $3,000 bail. He was on parole for first-degree burglary and felony larceny in Lincoln County. Both have Jan. 13 appearances in Iredell County District Court.
Packages containing the Christmas lights, as well as clothing and other items were stolen from the front porches of homes on Nov. 17, Sheriff Darren Campbell said. Mail also was taken from mailboxes, according to the sheriff. The items are valued at about $350.
Video surveillance at one of the homes showed a man and a woman stealing a package and mail, Campbell said. A neighbor also watched the pair put wrapping from the items into a storm drain, according to the sheriff.
