Borum, the man accused of fatally shooting Justin Carr, a bystander, during last fall's uptown riots entered a plea of not guilty in the shooting. Borum appeared during the afternoon session and was represented by defense attorney, Terry Sherrill.
Officer Quincy Smith of the Estill Police Department responded to a call of a man harassing people outside of a convenience store in Hampton County on January 1, 2016. He approached the suspect — Malcolm Orr — and repeatedly asked Orr to "stop," "come here" and "take (his) hands out (of his) pockets." Orr ignored Smith and kept walking away while talking on his cell phone. Then Orr turned around and shot Smith repeatedly. The entire incident — including its aftermath — was caught on a camera mounted on glasses that Smith had purchased himself. Note: This video contains graphic content. After a two-day jury trial, Malcolm Antwan Orr, 29, of Estill, was convicted of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime. On Wednesday, Orr was sentenced to 35 years in prison, 14th circuit solicitor McDuffie Stone, said in a news release.

Charlotte Uber driver Marlo Johnis Medina-Chevez went missing the night of May 20, 2017. Diontray Divan Adams, 24, and James Aaron Stevens, 20, were arrested in Maryland on May 23 in connection with the case. Adams has been charged with financial credit card fraud and outstanding Maryland warrants, and Stevens has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney said Thursday he “can’t defend” the actions of an officer captured on video putting a pistol to an unarmed man’s head during an arrest. The incident took place in March 2016 when police chased James Yarborough, who was a passenger in a car wanted in connection with multiple larcenies.
