A man was found dead late Saturday in the parking lot of a shopping center at the intersection of Johnston Oehler and Prosperity Church roads. Police say they believe he met someone he knew there.
The victim was identified Sunday as 22-year-old Anderson David Biggers.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said the call came in at 11:34 p.m. Saturday and the victim died of an apparent gunshot wound.
The death comes during an unusually violent year for Charlotte, with homicides spiking through the early part of 2017. The latest killing makes the 34th homicide investigation this year for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, and the third in the past week. The department had 68 homicides in 2016, which was higher than previous years.
Last week, police in Rock Hill found the body of a Charlotte Uber driver who had disappeared after making a pickup. And on Friday police found a man dead in his uptown Charlotte apartment; another man has been charged with murder.
Anyone with information about Saturday’s shooting is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and ask to speak with Detective Lowe. Information can also be reported at http://charlottecrimestoppers.com/.
