Dhan Diyali of Charlotte won a $1 million-prize playing the Million Dollar Fever state lottery scratch-off game, N.C. lottery officials said Monday.
Diyali bought the $10 ticket at the Circle K on Monroe Road. He beat odds of 1 in 3.36 million.
He claimed the prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Monday and had the choice of taking a $1 million annuity that has 20 payments of $50,000 a year, or a lump sum of $600,000. Diyali chose the lump sum, and after state and federal tax withholdings took home $417,009.
The $10 ticket launched in August with five top prizes of $1 million. Three top prizes remain.
