A suspect in a Cornelius stabbing was released from the hospital this week and jailed on $217,500 bail, police said.
Joshua Thomas Sloop, 36, of Cornelius was charged with felony counts of first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, violation of a domestic violence protective order with a deadly weapon and stalking.
He also was charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault and communicating threats.
The knife attack happened Sunday afternoon at a home in the 20000 block of Willow Pond Lane, police said.
When the victim ran to a neighbor’s, Sloop followed and was injured during a fight, police said.
The woman who was stabbed has been released from the hospital.
The woman has significant injuries but is expected to recover, Cornelius police spokeswoman Betsy Shores said Thursday.
