The body of a Burke County woman was discovered in a neighboring county Friday morning, a day after authorities began a welfare check on the woman, officials said.
Leslie Renee Hensley, 39, was discovered at 6:30 a.m. after an all-night search involving the Burke County Sheriff’s Office along with the State Bureau of Investigation and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
Burke officials said they had initiated a welfare check on Hensley, who was from the Clark Loop area of the county, at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.
Burke officials did not say where Hensley’s body was found or how she died. The agency and the SBI are continuing to investigate witnesses and persons of interest.
Because of the ongoing nature of the investigation, authorities said they were not going to release additional information until Monday afternoon.
