Mooresville police said they have charged a man from upstate New York in connection with the rape of a juvenile he met over the Internet.
Alexander Richard Watros, 26, of Mexico, N.Y., was arrested by the New York State Police in the Syracuse area and was extradited to Iredell County. He was in the Iredell County jail on $1 million bail Saturday.
Police charged Watros with 10 counts of statutory rape and statutory sex offenses, five counts each of second-degree kidnapping and indecent liberties with a child, two counts of soliciting a child by computer for the purpose of committing an unlawful sex act, and one count of disseminating obscene material to a minor.
Policed have released no other details, including the age of the victim.
