A woman whose body was found in a west Charlotte neighborhood park Monday morning was a homeless person who grew up near the park, residents said. Police are calling the death a homicide.
The woman was identified by the police as Shannon Littlejohn, 46, from Charlotte.
“It was a grave loss to the community because she was born and raised in this community,” said Tanya Stevenson, a longtime friend who said she’d gone to a United House of Prayer church with the woman Sunday.
Juanita Gleaton lives across the street from the park: “The person they found, I’ve seen her since she was a child. I (often) saw her walking up and down the street.”
