Police investigate fatal hit-and-run in west Charlotte

A 50-year-old man was killed Saturday night in a west Charlotte hit-and-run that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were investigating Sunday.

Police responded to 2400 Alleghany St. about 10:45 p.m. and found Carrington Devol Ware lying in the road. MEDIC pronounced him dead, police said. Authorities believe Ware was crossing Alleghany Street at Pebblebrook Drive when he was hit by a vehicle.
