Sheriff’s deputies say they have arrested a man in connection with two church break-ins this week in Caldwell County.
William McKinley Lefever, 34, of Hudson, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering a place of worship and two counts of larceny. Lefever is jailed under $50,000 bond, deputies said.
Investigators said they were contacted Sunday about the break-ins at Center Grove Baptist Church, in the 3100 block of Deal Mill Road; and at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, in the 3500 block of Christie Road. Both churches are in the Hudson area.
Church members arriving for services discovered that their church had been entered and that money and other property had been taken. Detectives executed search warrants Monday at two locations and said they recovered some of the stolen property.
