A Charlotte man has been sentenced to a minimum of 47 years in prison after a jury convicted him of sexually assaulting the same woman twice, including an incident where he rappelled into her home through a hole in the roof, according to the Mecklenburg District Attorney’s Office.

Daven Lorenzo Teeter, 23, was convicted of several felonies on Tuesday, including first-degree rape, first-degree sex offense, four counts of kidnapping and two counts of robbery, the DA’s office said. When Teeter is released from prison, he’ll be required to register as a sex offender and be electronically monitored by authorities for the rest of his life.

In the first assault, in April 2010, Teeter forced himself into the woman’s home at knifepoint, tied her up, covered her mouth and tried to sexually assault her, according to the DA’s office. Before he left, he took cash and jewelry. Two children were at the home when the crime occurred.

The second incident happened in October 2011. Teeter pried open a hole in the roof and rappelled inside, then raped the woman at knife point, the DA’s office said. Then he put the woman in the trunk of her car and put her daughter into the back seat and drove to a local bank, where he held the girl out to enter her mother’s PIN number at the ATM.

Teeter abandoned the vehicle, leaving the woman and her daughter behind.

But Teeter’s image was captured by surveillance video at the ATM, and he was soon arrested. Police connected him to the earlier assault by comparing DNA evidence from the crimes, the DA’s office said.

Superior Court Judge Nathaniel Poovey sentenced Teeter to a minimum of 47 years and a maximum of 60 years in prison.
