A Rowan County man has been charged with running a gambling operation, according to authorities.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said its Special Operations Division cited Laurence Joseph Beauchamp IV, 40, of China Grove, after executing a search warrant Wednesday morning at a building near Salisbury.
Agents visited a building in the 100 block of Hader Street, saying the sheriff’s office had received complaints about gambling taking place at the location. Investigators said agents confiscated a number of tickets and ticket boards, along with $593 in cash.
Beauchamp was cited for operating a game of chance and possession of numbers tickets.
The sheriff’s office said Beauchamp was arrested in May 2010 after agents searched a building across the street from the location visited Wednesday morning. That time, authorities reported seizing more than $5,000 in cash, along with tickets and ticket boards.
Beauchamp pled guilty in that case to operating a lottery, authorities said.
