Police arrested and charged 12 motorists for driving while impaired at an overnight DWI checkpoint in the 2300 block of Park Road, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Sgt. Jesse Wood said.
Police charged two motorists with felony drug counts, three for carrying a concealed weapon and 10 for driving while their licenses were revoked, Wood said. Eight motorists were charged with misdemeanor drug possession and six for having no driver’s license.
Twenty-four officers assisted at the checkpoint, which was from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m, including from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Pineville and UNC Charlotte police departments and the state’s Alcohol Law Enforcement division.
The checkpoint was part of the statewide St. Patrick’s Day Booze It and Lose It campaign that continues through Monday night.
