A Monroe woman has been accused of fatally stabbing a man Tuesday afternoon in her home, police say.
Katondra Chantel Tillman, 26, has been charged with murder in the death of 38-year-old William Tyrone Sturdivant, Monroe police said.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 hang-up call about 1 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on Lancelot Drive. Officers found evidence of an altercation, they said, and were told that a man had been taken to CMC-Union with a stab wound to his upper chest.
Police went to the hospital and learned that Sturdivant had been airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He died there.
Investigators said the stabbing took place at Tillman’s residence in the 2600 block of Lancelot Drive. Police have not described the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
“Our officers worked well into the night to determine exactly what happened and were able to look at all the evidence, which led to the charges being filed,” interim police Chief Bryan Gilliard said.
Tillman is jailed without bond and has an initial court appearance set for May 14.
