Charlotte emergency personnel in hockey benefit Sunday

Police, fire, Medic and sheriff’s deputies will participate in a benefit hockey game Sunday after the Charlotte Checkers’ contest at Time Warner Cable Arena.

The Checkers’ ninth annual Salute to Heroes game is set for about 4:30 p.m. The Checkers and Oklahoma City Barons face off at 1:30 p.m. The charity game will pit a team of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and Mecklenburg County sheriff’s staffers against a team representing Medic and the Charlotte Fire Department.
