A Caldwell County man was sentenced Monday to more than 10 years in prison for his role in a bank robbery last year, prosecutors say.
Jeffrey Wayne Campbell, 52, of Lenoir, was convicted in a Catawba County court on two counts of common law robbery and habitual felon status. Judge Yvonne Mims sentenced Campbell to between 127 and 165 months in prison, according to prosecutors.
Investigators had accused Campbell of robbing Community One Bank in Hickory on Jan. 7, 2013. Shortly after the robbery, police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the getaway car, parked at a residence on Main Avenue Drive NW.
Police surrounded the home and arrested Campbell a short time later. Investigators said more than $9,700 was taken in the robbery.
