The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said it is offering a $1,000 reward for the capture of a teen felon who has several drug-related charges pending, including heroin trafficking.
Brandon Lee Rumple, 19, of Kannapolis, is being sought by both Rowan and Cabarrus County authorities after they said he failed to appear in Cabarrus County Superior Court for a heroin trafficking charge that dates back to April 2012.
Rumple was charged during that incident with possession of more than 200 grams of heroin during the search of a Charlotte apartment, officials said.
In October 2012, Rumple was performing community service at the Rowan County Recycling Center, when deputies said they received a report of a drug sale involving someone matching Rumple’s description.
He was again charged with trafficking heroin after he tried to get rid of 6.7 grams of the drug in a PortaJon, officials said. Deputies also found 3.7 grams of Methadone and $415 cash in his possession.
In June 2013, Rumple was involved in a dispute at his Carter Street residence, and allegedly fired a .380 handgun at two individuals, officials said. They recovered the handgun and shell casings from the scene. Several days later, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team forced entry into Rumple’s home and charged him with felon in possession of a firearm.
Rumple’s most recent charge was in October 2013, while in custody at the Rowan County Detention Center, officials said. Rumple was found to have controlled substances hidden in his rectum, the sheriff’s office said, and he was charged with intent to distribute Soboxone and possession of controlled substances in a local confinement facility. Both are felonies.
Officials said Rumple’s “extensive criminal record” includes a 2012 conviction in Cabarrus County of delivery of a schedule I controlled substance.
