Man sought for arson, car theft, bank robbery in Gaston, Lincoln

Authorities in Gaston and Lincoln counties are looking for a man who allegedly went on a crime spree Wednesday.
Police accuse the suspect, identified as Jean Pierre Gendron, of setting his girlfriend’s home on fire and stealing her car outside Cherryville and then robbing a bank in Lincolnton. Authorities are asking the public’s help in finding the man.
According to Gaston County police, Gendron might be driving a 2004 burgundy Nissan Altima, with N.C. license tags ZWK-5567. That was the car he allegedly was driving after the bank robbery.
Police in Lincolnton said they believe Gendron was responsible for robbing the Peoples Bank branch in the 700 block of N.C. 27. That took place about 9 a.m. Wednesday. Police said the suspect demanded money and threatened a teller, although no weapon was displayed.
Authorities said Gendron has a Massachusetts accent. He is 49 years old, is 5 feet 7 and weighs 150 pounds. He has blue eyes and short-cropped blond hair.
