Police: Man arrested after randomly attacking people in mall

A Salisbury man was arrested Tuesday after randomly attacking customers at Concord Mills mall, breaking a display case and trying to steal a vehicle in the parking lot, police said.
David Leon Simpson, 32, of Salisbury was charged with several crimes including cocaine possession, robbery, two counts of assault on a female and simple assault. After the arrest, he was also served with outstanding misdemeanor warrants from Rowan County for disorderly conduct and resisting an officer, police said.
Simpson was in the Cabarrus County jail.
Concord Police say Simpson assaulted several people with his fists. All the victims had minor injuries.
Simpson was apprehended in the parking lot while trying to steal the vehicle, police said. Investigators don’t know why he attacked people. Cleve R. Wootson Jr.
