Albemarle police say they have arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery of a convenience store Monday evening.
Brett Michael Shields, 36, of Albemarle, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and jailed under $25,000 bond. His first court date will be Monday, police said.
Officers said they were called about 8 p.m. to the Village Mart, in the 1600 block of U.S. 52 North. A clerk said a man entered the store, pulled out a knife, and demanded money.
The suspect ran off after getting cash, police said. Investigators said evidence led them to Shields, who was arrested at his home a few hours after the robbery.
