One man has been arrested in connection with a kidnapping case in Chester County, S.C., authorities said as they continued to search for other suspects Saturday.
The victim, a Rock Hill man, managed to escape from his kidnappers Thursday night, authorities said.
Jeremy Legette, 23, was charged late Friday in connection with the case. His address was not immediately available.
The Chester County Sheriff’s Office provided this account: The victim and a woman separately met up at a home at 576 Roundtree Circle around 10 p.m. Thursday. Their relationship was unclear.

When the victim entered the side door of the residence, he was assaulted, “tied up with shoe strings and had his mouth wrapped in tape by some unknown males,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was placed in the trunk of his car – a burgundy 2004 Nissan Maxima with South Carolina plate number IDG158 – and the men drove away from the house, officials said.
“While traveling down the road (the victim) pulled the trunk release and jumped out somewhere on Pine Street” in the city of Chester, the report said. Legette allegedly got out of the car and began to chase the victim while the other men drove away, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Chester police responded to the initial 911 call from a Pine Street resident reporting a fight. But further investigation revealed the kidnapping took place in the Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction, deputies said.
The victim received minor injuries from jumping out of the trunk, officials said, and was taken to a nearby hospital by EMS.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Legette has been charged with kidnapping, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and criminal conspiracy. Chester police also charged him with disorderly conduct.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Office at 803-581-5131.
