Prosecutors in Catawba County say Nicky Lee Anderson was sentenced this week to at least 20 years in prison on charges involving sex with a child.
Anderson, 42, of Catawba, was convicted in Catawba County Superior Court on two counts each of rape of a child, first-degree sex offense with a child, and indecent liberties with a child.
Prosecutors said the crimes took place in December 2011 and January 2013 in Catawba County and involved a victim under the age of 12.
Anderson fled Catawba County after arrest warrants were issued in early 2013, police said. He was arrested in April 2013 by federal marshals in a Tallahassee, Fla., bookstore.
Judge Yvonne Mims-Evans sentenced Anderson to between 20 and 29 years in prison. When released, Anderson will be required to register with the N.C. Sex Offender Registry and will be subject to satellite-based monitoring for the rest of his life, prosecutors said.
