Shelby police ID train victim

Police said James Phillip Bell, a Rutherford County resident, was struck and killed by the train Monday.

A 51-year-old Rutherford County man was the person who was struck and killed by a train Monday, police say.

Shelby police said they identified the victim as James Phillip Bell.

Investigators said they don’t know why Bell was on the CSX tracks about 9:30 a.m. Monday when he was hit by the train. The incident took place along North Lafayette Street at East Avenue.
