The FBI is trying to locate victims of an alleged sexual predator who drugged, molested, raped and photographed girls and, for a time, lived in Charlotte.
Matthew John Coniglio, 46, killed himself in a Savannah, Ga., jail on April 20 –10 days after being arrested for possession of child pornography, according to the FBI.
Investigators described him as a serial child predator who possessed more than 50,000 images and videos depicting child pornography. Some of the victims were as young as 8 years old, and the FBI says some may not know they were molested by Coniglio.
In addition to Charlotte, the FBI says Coniglio has lived in Raleigh, Hilton Head and Charleston, S.C., Savannah and Pooler, Ga., over the past 15 years.

When he was arrested, Coniglio worked as a sales representative for a food distribution company headquartered in Florida.
Investigators are in the process of identifying and notifying victims. Although Coniglio is dead, federal law requires the agency to attempt to seek out his alleged victims to provide assistance.
“While Coniglio took many answers with him upon his death, the FBI is now focused on efforts to provide victim assistance and support to those numerous individuals whom Coniglio harmed,” J. Britt Johnson, FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Atlanta Field Office, said in a statement Tuesday.
