Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking the public’s help in identifying two suspects in the attempted armed robbery and assault of a woman on Thursday.

Shortly after 6 a.m., armed assailants followed the victim from a gas station in the 600 block of Clanton Road to the 3400 block of St. Vardell Lane, police said.

One suspect approached the victim and demanded her purse at gunpoint. The victim refused, and a struggle ensued. The suspect then struck the woman and left in a vehicle driven by the second suspect, police said.

Police on Thursday night released video surveillance photos of the suspects

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
