A Gaston County man has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for fatally shooting his brother during a fight outside their mother’s house more than two years ago.
Prosecutors said David Scott Ramsey, 49, was sentenced Wednesday in Gaston County Superior Court. He originally was charged with first-degree murder but pleaded guilty last October to second-degree murder.
Michael Kevin Ramsey was killed April 6, 2012. The two brothers lived with their mother, Brenda, a former Gaston County police officer, in Dallas.
Gaston County police said the two brothers got into an argument in the backyard of the home. Prosecutors said Brenda Ramsey testified that her sons had been drinking before the fight broke out. Observer staff reports
