Shelby Police are searching for a man who they say robbed a man Monday morning.

At 10:06 a.m., the Shelby Police Department responded to 1141 East St. in reference to an attempted armed robbery.

When they arrived, police determined that David Timothy Young of Granite Falls had been cut during the incident. Police said that Young was doing maintenance on a building on East Street when he was approached by the suspect demanding money.

When Young told the suspect that he didn’t have any money, the suspect produced a razor knife and cut Young on his left arm and hand. The suspect then ran away.

Young was treated at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

The suspect is described as a six-foot tall white male or possibly a light-skinned black male with a long brown beard and possible dreads in his hair.

He was last seen wearing a black top with a hoodie that he had pulled over his head and dark pants.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 704-481-TIPS (8477).
